DESCRIPTION:\n\nCuriosity\n\n\nThe talk will be based on the Curiosity rover which landed on MARS in Aug 2012 and should continue until at least next year. It was basically looking at was ancient Mars suitable for life. There is ample evidence that this was the case with much evidence of water having been present within Gale Crater billions of years ago.\nAbout this month’s speaker \nJerry Workman worked in a school in London and has a degree in Chemistry. These days he mainly concentrates on planetary talks.\nOver the years he has given more than a 1000 talks to various societies around the country.\nIn 2009 he was awarded the FAS Eric Zucker award for public outreach in Astronomy.\nHe has held the position of Chairman and programme secretary at a number of different Astronomy clubs over the years.\n—-\nAnyone is welcome – beginner or expert – and there is no need to pre-book. A small charge applies to help us cover costs (typically £3 for non-members; £2 for NEAS members; U16s free).
