DESCRIPTION:This Earth\nAbout the Talk\nThe speaker says\n“This talk will feature some of the places I have visited for Astronomical purposes like eclipses and Aurora and give a little geological and historical background to them . These include Iceland , Hawaii and Yellowstone park .\nI will mention also Light pollution , the greenhouse effect , acid rain and the Ozone hole briefly at the end .\nAt the start I will briefly look at the Earth as a whole planet.”\nAbout this month’s speaker\nJerry Workman worked in a school in London and has a degree in Chemistry. These days he mainly concentrates on planetary talks.\nOver the years he has given more than a 1000 talks to various societies around the country.\nIn 2009 he was awarded the FAS Eric Zucker award for public outreach in Astronomy.\nHe has held the position of Chairman and programme secretary at a number of different Astronomy clubs over the years.\n—-\nAnyone is welcome – beginner or expert – and there is no need to pre-book. A small charge applies to help us cover costs (typically £3 for non-members; £2 for NEAS members; U16s free).
